Welcome to the "Newly Diagnosed" section of the T21 Connect website.  Here you will find links and helpful resources to assist you at the beginning of your journey.  I hope that you will find this page useful, and wish you congratulations on your beautiful child.  As the parent of a child with Down syndrome I know only too well the early days can be very hard and worrying for you.  Any feelings you may have are completely natural, and everyone will respond in their own way to the new journey you are now beginning.

Josee's Journey of Faith Hope & Love - This page is run by Joelle Kelly, its aim is to help families in Australia who have recieved a prenatal diagnosis.  Joelle has volunteers from all over Australia, who are offering their time and advice to people just like you. Please contact Joelle through her facebook page to be connected with these wonderful people. Alternatively you can join the "Down Syndrome Pregnancy Australia" facebook group through this link.

Down Syndrome Australia - Prenatal diagnosis support and information.  "Down Syndrome Australia provides prenatal support and information including a prenatal fact sheet that contains easy-to-understand, factual and balanced information for people considering prenatal testing or if a test shows that a baby may have or does have Down syndrome." 

Caring for a baby with Down syndrome on the Pregnancy Birth & Baby site is a very worthwhile read, and details the Australian contact details for state Down syndrome associations. 

Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network  "We are parents from all over the United States and around the world who each have a child with Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) and a great desire to ensure families who receive a Down syndrome diagnosis are receive current information and support.  We come from varying political and religious beliefs with a shared vision that all families would have unbiased, famliy-centered diagnosis experiences with up-to-date information and access to support and connections."

"Down Syndrome Pregnancy is a program administered by the National Center for Prenatal and Postnatal Resources at the University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute. We provide honest, compassionate, medically-reviewed, and informative support for those preparing for the birth of a baby with Down syndrome. The National Center also administers Brighter Tomorrows, an online resource for new and expectant parents, and Lettercase, a program for expectant parents first learning about prenatal screening/testing and a Down syndrome/Trisomy 21 diagnosis."
